Today my mentor showed me how to remove a cannula and then when 2 patients had finished their infusions i got to remove them by myself with her watching, i did it without no problems, and the ladies who i took them off was really happy with me. I felt great and trusted :)
I have started to feel much more competent on my 2nd day of this placement, am doing lots of things without being asked and building up good relationships with my bay of patients, This placement is going really well so far and i am loving (even with my feet and legs hurting so much from all the standing etc) working on this adult placement, and so far i feel i am getting more ot of this placement than i did with my 1st branch placement which was mental health. But hey its only my 2nd one so who knows what the next placement will bring...
Its late tomorrow will be my 3rd long day in a row, i am shattered and i still have some of my practice learning document to do.
I have started my 2nd year of being student mental health nurse; studying for an advanced diploma, whilst plodding along this thing called life... Posts may come in the form of student life, moaning, reflection or just plain crap talk... Hope you enjoy the ride with me..
